Significant amount of impact energy is imposed on the helicopter during crash which gets transmitted to the seats causing occupant fatalities. As per research, a huge drop in occupant mortality rates is seen when energy absorbing seats are used. It is observed that with increase in vertical crash velocity, a helicopter equipped with crashworthy features can provide protection in far more severe crashes than conventional helicopters. High Shock Absorption

Crashworthy seats (CWS) designed by our team provide high shock absorption efficiency decelerating the acceleration of over 40g to less than 15g and attenuating it to the human survival limit.

High Strength Materials and Better Fuel Efficiency

The energy-absorbing elements are developed from special material alloys with specific manufacturing processes. The seat structure is made up of high-strength materials leading to a lightweight design that provides better fuel efficiency to the vehicle.

For a continuous and durable support surface, the seat back as well as the seat pan is made from aerospace material.

Compact Design

Designed to be packaged inside the available cabin space the seats are also built as individual foldable units.

Simulation-Driven Engineering

We leverage simulation-driven engineering for verification of the system with helicopter structure, and seat structure coupled with hybrid III dummies. The design is virtually optimized for clearing occupant safety criteria for head, neck, and spine injuries.

Stringent Testing

The seat is designed to cater to occupants of 5 to 95 percentile. Component level testing proves energy absorption efficiency of the system. Validation testing is done via extensive drop tower test.

Conformance Standards

Seats are designed to conform for the Static Strength test as per FAR 27.561 and Dynamic Strength test as per FAR 27.562. Seats use aerospace-grade foam and fabric for the comfort and safety of soldiers which also clears governing flammability tests. The design and manufacturing conform to the AS9100D Quality Management System.
